Liberal Leader: Stephane Dion

So, Stephane Dion is the new leader of the Liberal Party. To be honest, I was not expecting that. I was expecting it to come down to Rae vs. Ignatieff. It will be interesting to see what happens. For now, I don't have too many thoughts on the matter.

Dion was Chretien's candidate. Party insiders expected him to win as the fix was in back in October. It was amazing to see Chretien, Martin (and poor old pathetic John Turner) stand on a stage together the way they hate each other's guts.

I do!Mr Dion will be a formable opponent,This man does have what seems to me "John Q Public" as a thing called honesty, integrity & intelligence, rare in the LPC I know, but do not underestimate him. I am sure PMSH has not.Mr Dions failures (kyoto)were the LPC's not his dedication and committments. As you have seen the party has rallied in their quest for power (not renewal)Even the old thieves were there for the photo-ops.

What an odd leadership race this has been. Of the two ones people THOUGHT would win, one was the disasterous former Ontario premier, and one who sits atop an ivory tower spouting one weird concept after another. And in the end, the party, the 'rejuvenated' Liberal party of Canada, chose to pick an old-party Chretienite.

Seamus, if you have anything to support your claim that the "fix was in," I'd be most interested in seeing it. This was something I had not heard, and I'll admit, my interest is piqued.
