George Galloway Weighs In...
Like We Care

According to Canada.com:
Prime Minister Stephen Harper's foreign policy strategy is a joke and is causing Canada to be hated around the world, British politician George Galloway said Monday.
The notorious member of parliament, known for his outspoken views against the Iraq war, said Harper's actions at the APEC summit in Hanoi show he lacks diplomacy skills and doesn't understand Canada's place in the world.
Harper had a difficult time arranging a meeting with the Chinese president, which many experts said was a snub for the government's continued criticism of China's foreign policy.
"The idea of Canada threatening China is absurd," Galloway said at an event sponsored by the Syrian Canadian Club. "The whole point of politics is to talk to each other, even if you hate each other."
Galloway, who used to be a Labour MP, is now a member of the left-wing RESPECT, the Unity Coalition. He is wrapping up a four-day tour of Canada, which included stops in Toronto and Montreal, where he is spreading the message about his opposition to Canada's role in Afghanistan and its relationship with Israel.
Galloway also weighed in on Canada's Liberal leadership contest, saying that "Anyone but Ignatieff" is a common slogan in British politics.

Where do I even begin with this ridiculous piece of "news?"
Galloway is completely out of touch with the common Brit. He is also staunchly anti-Bush, anti-Iraq, anti-Blair, anti-common sense and a self-promoter. That he thinks Harper's ideas are bad can only be a good thing. While he may think that "Canada threatening China is absurd," I simply must point out that Galloway criticizing Harper is even more absurd.

afraid he's not 'out of touch' with us Brits... at all. The majority of us opposed war on Iraq before the invasion and after, just like Galloway. The majority of us despise Blair and Bush and the new imperialism, just like Galloway...he has never lost an election (he has stood 5 times and been an elected politician since '87), even ousting a Labour politician in a safe seat in 2005, thus making history.

He now also has a very popular radio show which attracts millions of viewers every week.

I believe he just also spoke at some public meetings in Canada where tickets sold out very quickly indeed, so seems he's not 'out of touch' with Canadians either!

As for 'anti-Iraq'....this is a new smear against Galloway, I must say!! LOL

I'd like to see some poll evidence regarding Galloway's politics, Jeannie.

Aren't the Conservatives still ahead of Labour in the polls?

Sadly, this is not entirely reflected in your polls. I will give you that many do not like Bush. However, Blair is doing well. Also, none of your media reflects any sort of sympathy for Galloway and his crackpot ideas.

Hah hah ha!
Galloway is like Jack Layton on crack. If you think this is in touch with the Canadian plus, think again. Ticket sales (of any event) do not reflect popular opinion.

Would you prefer I use the words extremely, excessively and unreasonably?
The entire world is not against Bush and there are varying levels of support or antagonism regardingg the Iraq war. Galloway is an extremist.

The fact that the media (which is owned by super-wealthy individuals who are out to push a particular agenda) does not support someone's ideas is usually an indication that they are on the right track Ruth - and in the case of the British media, who are notorious for their rabid, reactionary and downright nasty attitudes, I would say it is a badge of honour to be vilified by them.

I'm surprised a blogger would use the media's views on anything as an indication of what is true in reality.

Have you actually ever seen Mr Galloway speak or read any of his writing incidentally? Or do you just take everything the media says as gospel?

"Or do you just take everything the media says as gospel?"

Is this a serious question?
I mean, have you ever actually READ my blog?

"The fact that the media... does not support someone's ideas is usually an indication that they are on the right track Ruth..."

Again, are you serious?

The media is notoriously left. And, in case you forgot, I pointed out the fact our media was quite enamored with Galloway (not a good thing). Plenty of the British media is equally enamored with Galloway (still not a good thing) but I pointed out opinion polls (you would have been better to suggest that opinion polls are often suspect) then try to suggest that news media is ever on the "right" track.

PS: Yes, I have read some of Galloway's opinions. He's an elitist power lefty and full of garbage.
