Liberals Hardball on Softwood

The Liberals have decided to vote against the softwood deal. Their argument centers around the "fact" that only getting $4billion out of the $5billion isn't enough.
I can't help but wonder if they would be acting as tough if the Bloc were not going to support the softwood deal. Clearly they have their own version of what a fair deal is, since Ontario, Quebec and BC (the three big softwood producing provinces) are all strongly in favour of the deal.

Ruth, I would dearly love to see the Bloc change their minds JUST to screw the Liberals over and watch them show how tough their stance on this is.

I would even be willing to risk an election to see it!!

I agree with the first post. Hope the Bloc decides to vote against the Softwood deal. Watch the Liberals back track quicker than you can shake your head. They maybe at the bottom of the heap but they are not prepared to self destruct at this point. On second thought Canada has become so left leaning we better not risk an election over this issue.

Won't happen. The softwood industry in Quebec strongly supports the new deal. It would be nothing short of political suicide for the Bloc to oppose it.
